Happy Thanksgiving! š¦ To those celebrating, I hope the holiday is treating you and your loved ones very well!
In honor of this special day, I have a super cute and creative recipe to feature. What initially was going to be just a birthday gift turned into a fun treat to share with my coworkers. These chocolate turkey cupcakes were a huge hit!
If you wind up making them, please do let me know! And of course, you can switch up the decorations any way you desire.
Turkey Cupcakes Recipe š§
Cupcakes can be made with any boxed cake recipe. Icing and decorations as follows:
1 1/3 cups of softened butter
5 1/3 cups of powdered sugar
2/3 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp. pure vanilla extract
4 tbsp. heavy cream
Pinch of kosher salt
Items for assembling:
24 chocolate cupcakes
Pretzels
Candy Corn
Brown M&M's (I used yellow, orange, and red for variety)
Candy Eyes
Instructions:
Bake cupcakes according to boxed mix (or own personal recipe.)
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter until fluffy.
Add the powdered sugar and cocoa powder. Beat until combined.
Add vanilla extract, heavy creams, and a pinch of salt before combining once again.
Fill a pastry bag fitted with a 1/2" round tip with frosting.
Once cupcakes are cool, frost them by making 1 larger frosting dollop for the body and 1 smaller one on top for the face.
Place 2 pretzels on the backside for the tail, 3-4 candy corn in front to finish the tail.
Place a candy corn on the face to make the beak, and 3 M&M's on each side for the wings.
Place 2 candy eyes above the beak, and you have yourself a turkey cupcake! Enjoy!
